Job Description

This is a full-time position responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs of college facilities, including buildings, grounds, and equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of college facilities, as well as providing excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs of college facilities, including buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of college facilities.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Perform custodial duties, including cleaning classrooms, carpets, floors, and lavatories.
  • Set up chairs, tables, public announcing systems, and audio-visual equipment for classes and special events.
  • Inform the provost of any situation that may require immediate attention regarding safety.
  • Offer suggestions for improvement of campus maintenance.
  • Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Physical Plant.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience and/or training in the trade skills of carpentry, concrete, plumbing, electrical, and painting.
  • Knowledge of the proper and safe use of power tools and equipment used in various trades.
  • Knowledge and experience in custodial duties, including floor and carpet care.
  • Knowledge and understanding of biomedical waste and supplies and the proper storage and disposal.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards of buildings and grounds.
  • Knowledge and experience in inspections, warranties, and service contracts.
  • Planning and managing projects.
  • Be computer literate.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work well with co-workers and other IRSC faculty and staff members.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional education in college, technical, or trade school.
  • Training and experience in fire and security alarms, HVAC equipment.
  • Some knowledge of the use and repair of audio-visual equipment.
  • Work experience in building maintenance.

Hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Hours are subject to change.

Physical Requirements

This position requires an ability to walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, use ladders and other equipment, operate a motor vehicle, and carry items occasionally in excess of 50 pounds. The employee must be in good physical condition to do the type of work required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as a copier, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.

IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
