Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estimator/Project Manager to join our team at Edelman-Lyon Co. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for promoting the sale of commercial automatic door products and services to contractors, architects, facilities, and end users.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and the commercial door industry. They will be able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications, prepare detailed and accurate estimates, and work closely with architects and customers to ensure that the correct door package is provided for each project.

The successful candidate will also have excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to multi-task in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment. They will be able to work effectively in a CRM and have experience with estimating software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with architects, contractors, and customers to provide expert advice on hardware options and compliance with project specifications.
  • Thoroughly read and interpret construction plans and specifications to determine the correct door package requirements.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates based on project specifications and requirements to customers and contractors within deadlines.
  • Offer excellent customer service by responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and providing follow-up on submitted estimates.
  • Monitor the status of submitted estimates, follow up with customers and contractors to track the progress of bids.
  • Assist in converting estimates into orders and ensuring smooth transitions to the project management team.
  • Create accurately estimated proposals that include the work scope along with pertinent clarifications and/or exclusions related to the bid submission.
  • Prospect qualified commercial construction leads gained through commercial bidding software.
  • Follow up on submitted bids in a timely manner.
  • Work with general contractors' procurement and estimating teams to build relationships and gain projects for the company.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain positive business and customer relationships.
  • Responsible for prospecting, maintaining consistent customer contact and communication, along with aggressive follow-up to achieve targeted growth.
  • Continuously improve through feedback.

Requirements

  • Commercial construction estimating experience: 2 years (preferred)
  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications (required)
  • Experience with the commercial door and hardware industry (preferred)
