Archaeology Fieldwork Specialist

About the RoleWestland Resources is seeking an experienced Archaeology Field Technician to join our Cultural Resources team in northern Arizona. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on archaeological projects across the region, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of experts. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting fieldwork, recording artifacts and features, and processing data under the supervision of senior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct archaeological fieldwork, including survey, testing, monitoring, and data recovery excavations.
• Record artifacts, features, and other manifestations using Trimble GIS and maintain accurate records and notes.
• Process and catalog artifacts and materials under lab staff supervision.
• Preliminary analysis and lab tasks under lab staff supervision.
• File and scan records and paperwork.
• Complete record searches and report tables under senior staff supervision.

Requirements:

• Associates Degree or higher in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field. Prior on-the-job archeology experience may substitute for educational requirements.
• Previous experience in archaeology preferred.
• Ability to conduct fieldwork for long hours in a desert environment featuring extreme temperatures, rough terrain, and potential high altitudes.
• Ability to carry up to 60 pounds of equipment and supplies.
• Ability to bend and kneel for long periods of time.
• Ability to travel out of town for work throughout the Southwest, often on short notice and for extended periods (paid drive time, per diem and hotel provided).
• Ability to work as a member of a cohesive team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and creative environment.

The estimated salary range for this position is $19.00 - $23.50 per hour.
