We are seeking an experienced Archaeology Field Specialist to join our Cultural Resources team in northern Arizona.

About the Role

This position offers a unique opportunity to work on diverse archaeological projects across northern Arizona and potentially neighboring states. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting fieldwork, recording artifacts and features, processing and cataloging materials, and performing preliminary analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct archaeological fieldwork under the direction of a field supervisor, including survey, testing, monitoring, and data recovery excavations.
  • Record and document artifacts, features, and other manifestations using Trimble GIS, maps, and written records.
  • Process and catalog artifacts and other materials under lab staff supervision.
  • Perform preliminary analysis and lab tasks under lab staff supervision.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • An Associates Degree or higher in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in archaeology, with prior on-the-job experience substituting for educational requirements.
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork for long hours in extreme temperatures, rough terrain, and potential high altitudes.
  • Ability to carry up to 60 pounds of equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to bend and kneel for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel out of town for work throughout the Southwest, often on short notice and for extended periods.
  • Ability to work as a member of a cohesive team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
