Position Overview

Our client, a well-established firm in the steel sector, is seeking a skilled Estimator with a strong background in the structural steel industry. This role offers significant opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:


• Conduct initial assessments of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and organize bid submissions.


• Gather and analyze proposals, drawings, and specifications to prepare for estimation.


• Calculate costs by evaluating labor, materials, and time requirements.


• Compile estimates by organizing and presenting numerical and descriptive data.


• Address discrepancies through thorough information collection and analysis.


• Review Requests for Information (RFIs), addendums, and bulletins provided by clients.


• Perform site visits for new bids and modifications.


• Assess new drawings and documents for ongoing projects to identify changes and evaluate change orders.


• Participate in bid interviews and review scope sheets. Finalize project costs and negotiate with clients or prepare best and final bid submissions.


• Manage post-bid activities, including organizing documents for project manager handover, preparing Statements of Work (SOW), and creating financial breakdowns for new projects.


• Maintain relationships with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, and vendors.


• Develop and sustain relationships with new and existing vendors.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the structural steel field and should be proficient in software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with digital PDF tools like Acrobat or Blue Beam.
