Industrial Estimator/Project Coordinator

Summary:

The Industrial Estimator/Project Coordinator is a key support role for the Project Manager, requiring knowledge of structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and pipe fabrication/installation estimation. This individual must be proficient in reviewing blueprints, drawings, and measurements, and possess strong Microsoft Office skills and organizational abilities.

The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with Field, Engineering, and Office personnel, both verbally and in writing. They will also be capable of completing complex projects within agreed-upon timelines.

Success Criteria & Measurement:
  1. Understand each phase of a job and how work will be completed
  2. Proficient in project estimation, cost analysis, and proposal preparation
  3. Create and submit estimates to the Supervisor/Project Manager in a timely manner
  4. Communicate effectively with Customers, Vendors, Field, Engineering, and Office personnel
  5. Maintain all project data in an organized manner
Responsibilities:
  1. Review and understand project data
  2. Prepare cost estimates used for purposes such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, and selecting vendors and subcontractors
  3. Review data to determine material and labor requirements; prepare itemized lists
  4. Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation (e.g., P&ID Blueprints)
  5. Assist in the purchasing of materials, services, and subcontracts
  6. Identify areas of importance or change orders and relay related information to Pipe Supervisor/Project Manager and site foreman
  7. Attend project meetings as needed
  8. Perform on-site visits to obtain accurate measurements and verify specifications
  9. Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

High School degree required, associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred

Previous experience using Bluebeam and Navisworks software preferred

Minimum of 3 years' experience with fabrication/installation estimation

Ability to review contract documents to understand project requirements and obligations

Expert with the Microsoft Office Suite

AutoCAD a plus

Strong analytic skills with an understanding of drawings and measurements

Ability to navigate through complex projects and follow directions and work in a safe and professional manner

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, customer service, and follow-up oriented

Ability to follow directions, written and verbal, efficiently with the ability to work under time constraints and prioritize to meet deadlines
