We are currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner Supervisor to lead our medical team in delivering quality, person-centered medical services that empower our participants. This role involves supporting individuals from the intake process through their training, serving as a vital resource for our staff across various programs.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and ensure the medical information for incoming consumers aligns with Department of Health (DOH) requirements.
  • Conduct routine physical examinations for long-term program participants.
  • Monitor and address consumers' medical needs daily, coordinating care during hospitalizations.
  • Prescribe and manage medical care for consumers, referring them to community physicians as necessary.
  • Order and dispense medications, both prescription and over-the-counter, as required.
  • Facilitate laboratory tests and imaging as needed.
  • Collaborate with consumers' primary care physicians to discuss ongoing medical issues.
  • Provide medical clearance for consumer participation in physical activities.
  • Share dietary information with relevant staff to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Conduct educational sessions on medication administration and nutrition for consumers.
  • Engage with the DOH medical audit team as required.
Medical Oversight:
  • Coordinate medical assistance for consulting specialists during examinations and treatments.
  • Manage supplies and medications for medical offices, ensuring compliance with narcotic regulations.
  • Deliver a range of medical services, including screenings, first aid, and health assessments.
  • Organize and oversee out-of-Center medical consultations and flu immunization programs.
  • Develop response plans for health outbreaks on campus.
  • Implement Health Universal Precautions and Infection Control training for staff and consumers.
  • Stay informed on medical and administrative developments through ongoing education.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Support the gym program as a consultant/coordinator.
  • Facilitate medical appointment requests and maintain medication logs.
  • Identify consumers needing specialist consultations and complete necessary documentation.
Administrative Duties:
  • Participate in the recruitment and evaluation of nursing staff, ensuring compliance with employment standards.
  • Prepare annual statistical reports for the department.
  • Submit time sheets for nursing and medical staff to the Accounting Department.
  • Arrange nursing coverage during staff absences and provide support as needed.
  • Conduct bi-weekly meetings with nursing staff to share updates and information.
  • Accompany consumers to medical appointments when necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all nursing and medical services personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies and legal requirements in supervisory practices.
  • Manage departmental resources effectively, focusing on financial and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Nursing and active Nurse Practitioner certification from an accredited institution. Must hold a current New York State license and registration as a Nurse Practitioner, along with prescription privileges and a DEA license. Familiarity with communication methods used by DeafBlind individuals is essential, as is knowledge of deaf and deaf-blind culture. Proficiency in MS Office applications and strong report writing skills are required.
