We are currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner Supervisor to lead our medical team in delivering high-quality, person-centered healthcare services. This role involves guiding participants from the initial intake process through their training, while also serving as a valuable resource for our staff across various programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with Department of Health (DOH) requirements for incoming medical information.
- Conduct routine physical assessments for long-term program participants.
- Oversee daily medical needs of consumers and coordinate care during hospitalizations.
- Prescribe and manage medications, including referrals to community physicians as necessary.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests and imaging as required.
- Collaborate with consumers' primary care providers to address ongoing medical concerns.
- Provide medical clearance for physical activities and share dietary guidelines with relevant staff.
- Conduct educational sessions on medication management and nutrition.
- Engage with the DOH medical audit team as needed.
- Coordinate medical assistance for consultations with ENT and ophthalmology specialists.
- Manage supplies and medications for medical offices, adhering to state regulations.
- Deliver comprehensive medical services, including screenings and first aid.
- Facilitate annual flu vaccination programs for consumers and staff.
- Develop response plans for illness outbreaks on-site.
- Implement infection control training for staff and consumers.
- Stay informed on medical and administrative developments through ongoing education.
- Maintain accurate medical records and oversee gym program consultations.
- Participate in the recruitment and evaluation of nursing staff.
- Prepare annual statistical reports for the department.
- Submit payroll documentation for nursing and medical staff.
- Arrange for nursing coverage during staff absences.
- Conduct bi-weekly meetings with nursing personnel to share updates and information.
- Accompany consumers to medical appointments when necessary.
- Oversee all nursing and medical services personnel.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Support the professional development of nursing staff through performance evaluations and training.
- Manage resources effectively within the department.
Master's Degree in Nursing and active Nurse Practitioner certification from an accredited institution. Must possess a current New York State license and DEA registration for prescribing.
Knowledge of communication methods used by DeafBlind individuals is essential, as is familiarity with deaf and deaf-blind culture. Proficiency in MS Office applications and strong report writing skills are required.
