As a Telecommunications Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our telecommunications infrastructure.
Position Summary:
Under general supervision, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance, and administration of the telecommunications network. This role involves collaborating with end users and various IT support teams to ensure high-quality voice communication services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary liaison for internal customers, IS field technicians, and vendors regarding telecom support issues.
- Assess user requests for new services, system outages, videoconferencing, and telecom-related issues, providing effective solutions.
- Deliver technical evaluations, information, training, and services to end-users.
- Plan, prioritize, and execute daily tasks, including emergency repair tickets and system backups.
- Monitor telecom traffic and utilization, generating reports from PBX, Voice Mail systems, and Telemanagement systems.
- Maintain and interpret vendor technical documentation and schematics.
- Provide technical evaluations and support for IT projects as needed.
- Utilize PC-based and server-based systems to manage work tickets, diagnose issues, and update configuration records.
- Assist senior staff with IT projects and may lead projects as assigned.
- Ensure site closets meet structured cabling standards and proper equipment placement.
- Local travel may be required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
No specific education requirement; however, a combination of formal education and/or relevant work experience is preferred. An Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited institution is advantageous.
Minimum Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications equipment installation, maintenance, and administration is required. Familiarity with Enterprise Class PBX systems and PBX administration software is essential. Proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, CAD, and other office automation software is necessary. Knowledge of call center systems and call routing configuration is also required.
Licensure Requirement:
Must possess a valid driver's license and meet state-mandated insurance coverage requirements. Driving record must comply with company standards throughout employment.
