Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Health Coordinator to join our team at Brightpoint. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, producing, coordinating, and monitoring the functions necessary to ensure a comprehensive health program that meets the needs of our Head Start families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Health Assistant and Family Advocates to implement the health component of the Head Start program.
  • Provide assistance to children and families in accessing local community health resources.
  • Monitor and evaluate children's health records, creating weekly and monthly reports to track progress.
  • Work with physicians and clinics to obtain health results and ensure compliance with Head Start regulations.
  • Perform hemoglobin and lead testing as needed, after obtaining permission from parents.
  • Assist families with ongoing health and dental care, including creating health plans for children with chronic health issues.
  • Maintain a Health Services Advisory Committee and collaborate with them to identify ways to best serve our Head Start families.
  • Work with families and doctors to develop health plans for children with chronic health issues, ensuring that Head Start staff is knowledgeable about how to care for these children.
  • Ensure that proper paperwork is on file regarding food allergies and create/distribute health plans according to each child's needs.
  • Comply with the Head Start Act, all Head Start regulations, federal, state, and local regulations, contractual agreements, and funding guidelines.
  • Implement Brightpoint's values at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality of communications and records.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a current Indiana license, or a Bachelor's Degree in a related Health field such as Public Health, Maternal and Child Health, or Health Education.
  • Minimum of one (1) year related work experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills in Word, Excel, and database entry.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivated, attentive to detail, well organized, and function well under deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to relate and interact effectively with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, particularly low-income families.
  • Become certified in CPR and First Aid within twelve (12) months of hire.
  • Valid Indiana driver's license and minimum liability limits of $100,000/$300,000 on auto insurance.
