Job Overview

Position Summary:

The role of the Security Officer is to ensure the safety and security of the campus environment, protecting individuals, equipment, and property.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular patrols of the campus on foot or by vehicle to maintain safety and security.
  • Inspect doors, windows, and gates to confirm they are secured.
  • Manage the locking and unlocking of campus facilities at designated times.
  • Report any violations of student regulations to the appropriate authorities and document incidents in the shift log.
  • Provide escort services for visitors, students, faculty, and staff as necessary.
  • Monitor for and report any irregularities, including fire hazards and maintenance issues.
  • Respond to fire alarms and assist emergency services as needed.
  • Support law enforcement as required.
  • Perform nightly inspections of mechanical systems and kitchen refrigeration units.
  • Oversee traffic and parking management on campus.
  • Compile Shift Reports for all shifts worked and prepare Incident Reports as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the setup and coordination of special events.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisors or designated representatives.
Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a High School Diploma or GED. Strong preference will be given to candidates with military or law enforcement backgrounds.

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and manage interactions with a diverse range of individuals, particularly in high-pressure or emergency situations.

Certification in First Aid, including CPR, AED, and Blood Borne Pathogens, is required.

Note: This is a part-time position requiring availability for weekend, afternoon, and evening shifts.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, employees may be required to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regular lifting of up to 25 pounds is expected, with frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of more than 50 pounds.

Employees will often work near moving mechanical parts and in various outdoor weather conditions.
