Job Summary

As an EMT-Paramedic at Eastland Memorial Hospital, you will respond to emergency calls and interfacility transfers, providing emergency medical care to patients based on established protocols. You will communicate effectively with healthcare personnel, emergency services personnel, and maintain accurate patient care records. Additionally, you will perform equipment and vehicle inspections to ensure emergency response readiness.

Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Current and active Texas Department of State Health Services Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic certification, or Licensed Paramedic
  • Holds current, or be able to obtain with 90 days of employment: AHA-BLS, AHA-ACLS, AHA-PALS, and a valid Driver's License
Personal Job-Related Skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of general computer operation
  • Ability to adhere to hospital, local, state, and CMS guidelines/policies in the delivery of emergency care
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other hospital departments
Experience
  • One year minimum working in an Emergency Medical Services environment is preferred
Physical and Mental Requirements

The duties of this position require intermittent periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Bending, stooping, and reaching are required. The lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of patients with the use of equipment are required. Lifting in excess of 150 pounds, with assistance, may be required. Some circumstances require the ability to withstand heights, prolonged distances of travel, stress, and hostile environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operates emergency vehicles at a safe speed, based on existing conditions and applicable motor vehicle laws and established policies
  • Administers emergency medical care in accordance with appropriate protocols, standards of care, and level of training with patient and personal safety considerations being paramount
  • Maintains a professional attitude and demeanor during patient contact and while interacting with peers and the general public
  • Reassures patient and is attentive to patient's rights and religious beliefs, and patient privacy (HIPAA)

  • Maintains confidentiality and safeguards patient/hospital related information at all times
  • Demonstrates behaviors that promote positive customer relations with staff, patients, and visitors
  • Reports to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality
