What You Do

Develop and implement Waste Management Systems as well as the overall Environmental Management System. Support MTM in obtaining ISO 14001 certification. As a part of the above, and on an ongoing basis, you will also:

  • Establish strong team member relations, at all levels, and provide support for people development, coaching, and mentoring with a focus on teamwork and inclusion.
  • Work closely with advisors from Mazda and Toyota.
  • Provide leadership and support needed to allow planned production while maintaining compliance to applicable environmental regulations through the following competencies:
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures aligned with company objectives to be 100% compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
    • Implement a waste compliance system.
    • Monitor the production process to confirm the effectiveness of procedures and policies that have been implemented.
    • Identify, assess, and recommend solutions to potential compliance issues.
    • Identify, assess, and recommend means to reduce, reuse, recycle, etc. potential waste materials while maintaining compliance with waste regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Evaluate new raw materials for potential waste management and/or disposal issues.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Tracking for daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Evaluate TSDF facilities for ability to manage MTM wastes.
  • Assess waste materials and develop profiles for TSDF acceptance.
  • Develop agency reports.
  • Develop record-keeping systems that will enable MTM to constantly be aware of waste volume and disposition in the event of an unforeseen circumstance at a TSDF.
  • Assess the impact of potential material, process, or production volume changes and make recommendations to management. Perform other related duties as assigned by the department.
  • Be available to work outside of normal work schedule, including but not limited to weekends, holidays, shutdowns, and travel as needed (domestically and internationally).
What You Bring

  • Regulatory environmental compliance experience (must have demonstrated knowledge of EPA, ADEM, and DOT requirements).
  • Manufacturing and/or industrial experience.
  • Relevant audit experience (ISO/management system, program, and/or process audits).
  • Environmental training experience.
  • Experience in environmental promotion and/or environmental culture.
  • Experience in environmental policy creation and implementation, environmental training, investigation, reporting, database management, and risk assessment.
  • Project management experience with capability to develop, lead, and prioritize work, meet milestones, gain consensus, and report out status of projects.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
What Sets You Apart

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry/Biology, or related field and/or equivalent experience (manufacturing preferred).
  • Familiarity with environmental management systems (ISO 14001).
  • Certification in specific area of expertise.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and/or Toyota Production System.
