Job Summary

Nokian Tyres is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Installation and Maintenance: Participate in the installation and start-up assistance for new equipment and modifications, ensuring seamless integration into our production processes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and quality standards, both individually and as part of a team, driving continuous improvement in our operations.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with QA to investigate customer rejections and implement corrective actions, ensuring our products meet the highest standards.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicate with other shifts, operators, and technicians to share updates on equipment status, fostering a culture of open communication and teamwork.
  • Technical Expertise: Interpret blueprints and schematics, implementing methods, practices, and techniques to maintain production facilities, systems, and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform preventive, predictive, project, and reactive maintenance as required, ensuring our equipment is always in top working condition.
  • Diagnostic and Troubleshooting: Conduct routine diagnostic checks on automated systems and equipment, collecting performance data to identify potential issues and take proactive measures to prevent downtime.
  • Equipment Recovery: React quickly to equipment downtime, evaluating the root cause of issues, determining necessary repairs, and executing expedited repairs to restore equipment to safe and efficient operational status.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate service records to monitor equipment performance and input relevant work order and equipment repair data into our maintenance management system.
  • Equipment Rebuilding and Repair: Rebuild, repair, and reassemble machines and equipment, ensuring they meet our high standards for quality and performance.
  • Supply Chain Management: Communicate required spare parts to ensure our equipment is always well-stocked and ready for use.
  • Personal Development: Maintain certification as required to perform exceptional maintenance work and engage in personal development to achieve and retain high-performance standards.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success of our team.
Requirements
  • Technical Knowledge: Possess knowledge of industrial maintenance systems, equipment controls, and safety circuits, as well as working knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Possess above basic mathematical skills and reasoning ability, with the ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings.
  • OSHA Compliance: Knowledge of OSHA requirements, including electrical safety, machine guarding, confined space, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Computer Literacy: Basic working knowledge of computer software and MS Office.
  • Operational Experience: Experience with operating a forklift and ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Demonstrate team spirit, flexibility, and a positive attitude, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required, with an Associate degree from an accredited community, technical, or vocational college preferred. 1-2 years of multi-craft experience in a manufacturing environment, with Lean/process improvement tools experience and/or interest in advancing knowledge in this area.
Physical Demands
  • Work Environment: Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout assigned working hours, with frequent reaching, grasping, bending, and stooping.
  • Physical Abilities: Must be able to tolerate odor from raw materials, freshly cured tires, and hot materials, with frequent pulling and/or pushing up to 20 lbs independently, and occasional pushing and/or pulling up to 35 lbs independently, and greater weights with mechanical automation assistance.
  • Vision and Hearing: Adequate vision to read work instructions, job aids, and guides, and detect imperfections in raw materials, tooling, and finished product, with the ability to communicate effectively in an environment with continual noise.
  • Environmental Factors: Must be able to work in an environment with limited climate control and varied temperature levels, with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, and vibration.
  • Work Schedule: Must be willing and able to work a 12-hour shift (days or nights).
