Position Overview
The Senior Simulation Engineer plays a pivotal role within the Plant Integration Engineering team at GE Vernova, focusing on Simulation Assisted Engineering (SAE). This position is dedicated to enhancing LEAN integrated plant design (IPD) through the application of advanced digital engineering methodologies and tools. SAE embodies a collaborative, interdisciplinary, systems engineering approach aimed at addressing complex IPD challenges, facilitating analysis, and optimizing processes. The emphasis is placed on mitigating technical risks, reducing engineering labor, and shortening schedule durations during the initial phases of plant design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in a collaborative environment that includes Systems, Instrumentation & Controls, and Human Factors Engineering to ensure effective deployment, implementation, and ongoing management of the multi-organizational and geographically diverse SAE framework.
- Maintain a unified master plant simulation model within the SAE framework, ensuring that requirements and configuration management are regularly updated and properly baselined.
- Create and modify system models within an integrated simulation environment.
- Develop and execute scenarios for individual systems, interconnected systems, or entire power plants, covering all operational modes including startup, shutdown, and maneuvering.
- Work closely with simulation software vendors to prepare necessary plans, procedures, and reports, and conduct factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for simulators, addressing Discrepancy Reports (DR), enhancement requests, and training requirements.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Systems), Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of experience in engineering or design processes.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in simulation utilizing modern physics, mathematics, and software-based modeling tools for design, analysis, or training, particularly in areas such as nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics and plant process systems.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters; however, highly qualified remote candidates will also be considered.
- This position is limited to U.S. persons due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master of Science degree in Engineering or related fields.
- Experience in managing a software repository for a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with modern digital engineering collaboration and design tools.
- Experience in developing high-fidelity engineering simulators integrated with Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation for this position is competitive and may vary based on experience, education, and skill set. Additional benefits include healthcare coverage, retirement savings plans, tuition assistance, and paid time off.
GE Vernova is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment, ensuring equal opportunity for all employees.
