Geotechnical Engineering Internship

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Geotechnical Engineering Intern to join our team. As a Geotechnical Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with our experienced geotechnical engineers on a variety of projects, gaining valuable hands-on experience and skills in the field.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the geotechnical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Support the research and compilation of project-related data, including geotechnical data, boring logs, and subsurface profiles.
  • Participate in planning subsurface explorations and laboratory testing programs.
  • Apply basic knowledge of geotechnical engineering concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Assist with tasks such as filing, scanning, data entry, documentation, and PowerPoint presentation.
  • Respond to general questions and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Pursuing a Master's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering from an accredited program is strongly preferred.
  • Currently enrolled and in good standing in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of standard geotechnical engineering techniques, principles, and procedures is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
