Job Summary:

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist at CHRISTUS Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality pulmonary care to adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients in a critical, non-critical, and chronically ill setting. Under the direction of a physician, you will perform patient assessments, institute respiratory care plans, and execute various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures in all areas of the hospital.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet the expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Participate in emergency response, including Code Blue and White situations.
  • Manage airways, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning, and deliver aerosolized drugs.
  • Operate ventilators, perform oral hygiene, and place and maintain airway retaining devices.
  • Manage airway support devices, including BiPAP and CPAP devices, and deliver oxygen therapy.
  • Analyze chest films, collect and analyze blood gases, and perform EKG analysis.
  • Accurately and completely document patient information.
  • Clean and stock equipment and supplies as necessary.
  • Participate in CAP and JC surveys.
  • Function as a Shift Leader or Team Leader, and perform advanced practice skills, including therapeutic gas management and monitoring, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assist, hemodynamic monitoring, waveform analysis, nocturnal SpO2 evaluation, and polysomnography.
  • Transport patients as needed.
Requirements:
  • RT or RCP License in the state of employment.
  • BLS certification.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • 1-3 years of experience preferred.
