POSITION TITLE:
Claims Adjuster

DEPARTMENT:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role is primarily remote, with the expectation of travel within the designated region.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Execute loss assessments, pre-acceptance evaluations, and quality assurance tasks for Crop Hail and Federally Reinsured Crop Insurance offerings in line with established protocols.

Operate autonomously, with the majority of duties performed at the insured's location. Accountable for managing claims within the specified territory.

SUPERVISION:
Reports to the Claims Supervisor

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage directly with clients to conduct loss assessments, pre-acceptance evaluations, or quality control inspections, gathering necessary information for the resolution of reported claims. This data is documented and submitted electronically.
  • Stay informed about industry standards and procedures regarding the accurate adjustment of claims.
  • Evaluate and suggest improvements for company software solutions to ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct audits and reviews of claims.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Act as a representative of American Farm Bureau Insurance Services, Inc. in a professional and respectful manner.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor's degree or two to three years of relevant crop insurance experience, particularly in claims, or a combination of both.
  • Maintain necessary adjuster certifications and licenses.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Familiarity with agricultural practices and crops typical to the service area.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policy documents and relevant procedures.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Crop Hail and MPCI forms, endorsements, and recognized claims adjustment procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in computer usage are essential.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Capability to drive for extended durations.
  • The primary service area includes the home state and neighboring states, necessitating occasional overnight travel.
  • Willingness to travel and accept assignments in any state serviced by the company.
  • Ability to climb grain bins or other storage structures and navigate uneven terrain while assessing crops.
