Postdoctoral Researcher: Cell Competition and Ribosomal Signaling

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Biology at the University of California, Irvine. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Nick Baker and contribute to our research on cell competition, ribosomal signaling, and cancer.
Research FocusOur laboratory has a strong interest in understanding the molecular mechanisms of developmental signaling and its role in cancer. We employ a combination of in vivo molecular genetics, imaging, and manipulations of developing Drosophila and mouse tissues, cell culture, single-cell sequencing, and profiling methods, and in vitro molecular biology. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including the molecular effects of ribosome biogenesis defects, cell competition between cells of different fitness, and the origins of cancer from chromosome and ribosome defects.
Responsibilities- Conduct independent research projects under the supervision of Dr. Nick Baker
- Design and execute experiments using a variety of techniques, including molecular biology, cell culture, and imaging
- Collect and analyze data, and present results in a clear and concise manner
- Contribute to the development of research proposals and manuscripts for publication
- PhD in a relevant field (molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, or a related field)
- Strong background in molecular biology and cell culture techniques
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
