Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Operating Room Technician to join our team at Uniontown Hospital. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care by transferring equipment and instrumentation during procedures to physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation, processing, and arrangement of surgical instruments and supplies under the direction of a professional registered nurse.
  • Perform routine and special nursing procedures as delegated by the professional registered nurse.
  • Secure, set up, and prepare the Operating Room equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Arrange instruments, tables, stands, and other articles in specified order.
  • Provide and assist in meeting the patient's care needs and appropriate to the ages of patients served.
  • Organize time to complete assignments according to specifically assigned responsibilities.
  • Properly prepare instrumentation following completion of procedures for transport to Central Sterile for reprocessing.
  • Follow department guidelines in the cleaning and disinfection of furniture/equipment.
  • Maintain general cleanliness of unit and restock appropriately.
  • Report to Department Director/designee and equipment malfunctions that could affect the standard of care or legal implications.
  • Verify accuracy of sponge/needle and instruments on appropriate record.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an approved accredited school of Surgical Technology.
  • Ability to maintain/update the computer competencies as required for the position.
  • One (1) year of Operating Room scrub experience (preferred).

  • Some independent thought, planning, or origination of options and solutions is necessary.
  • Ability to apply principles of reasoning and problem-solving to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
