Unit Description
The Inpatient Surgical unit consists of 68 beds, primarily catering to post-surgical patients, along with a specialized 10-bed Surgical Complex wing. Our facility is recognized as a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a prestigious designation awarded to only a small percentage of hospitals nationwide.
Role Purpose
The Surgical Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in delivering direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing professionals. This position is essential in ensuring a safe and healing environment for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement direct patient care initiatives while promoting a patient and family-centered approach.
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and perform vital sign assessments.
- Monitor and report changes in patient conditions to the nursing team.
- Support educational efforts for patients and their families.
- Document all patient care activities accurately using appropriate medical terminology.
- Act as a dedicated patient safety sitter when necessary.
- Ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment for patient care.
- Engage in professional development and participate in safety and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED. While no prior experience is necessary, certification as a Nurse Assistant is preferred.
