Pediatric Anesthesiology Division Job Description

At the Medical College of Wisconsin, we are seeking a highly skilled Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant to join our Pediatric Anesthesiology Division. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional anesthesia care to our pediatric patients, working closely with our faculty anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer general and local anesthesia to pediatric patients
  • Maintain anesthesia delivery systems and monitors, including testing and calibration
  • Prepare patients to be effectively monitored
  • Monitor patients under anesthesia
  • Make recommendations regarding anesthetic care plans
  • Perform post-procedure tests on patients to ensure they are recovering well
  • Operate anesthesia equipment to monitor patients while delivering direct anesthesia care
  • Provide direct patient care before, during, and after anesthesia to ensure continuity of care and quality
  • Obtain complete patient medical histories, conducting physical exams, and pre-procedure interviews
  • Review patient medical histories to confirm their accuracy
  • Administer and order diagnostic and laboratory tests as needed
  • Work with anesthesiologists to determine the next step in preparing patients for procedures
  • Employ CPR or other emergency procedures as indicated
  • Perform various administrative duties, including collecting medical records, conducting patient chart reviews, and following up with patients/families
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Anesthetist Program required
  • National Board of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) certification required
  • Candidates can be either a Certified Nurse Anesthetist or board eligible for certification as a CRNA
  • Minimum 2 years of pediatric healthcare experience and previous CRNA experience
  • Wisconsin RN license
  • AHA BCLS and/or ACLS required
