Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Specialist to join our team at Arete Corporation Defunct. As a key member of our Incident Response team, you will play a critical role in assisting our Engagement Lead and managing technical tasks to ensure the successful forensic investigation and restoration of clients from network intrusions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Engagement Lead to manage technical tasks during an engagement
  • Assist clients with immediate actions, SentinelOne agent installation, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure data preservation and assist with forensic collections
  • Manage infrastructure recovery, restoration, and decryption efforts
  • Review backup solutions and assist with validation
  • Consult on technical issues, including EDR deployment, troubleshooting, and forensics collections
  • Ensure the Strategic Plan contains comprehensive technical details and identify additional technical resources
  • Serve as an internal expert on the engagement lifecycle and portfolio of services
  • Escalate technical issues and provide guidance to Technical Advisor, Engineer, and Technician positions
  • Document all activities, findings, and hourly time
  • Backfill the Engagement Lead as needed and fill in for other team members
  • Interface with clients, technical teams, and other Arete teams to ensure technical success
  • Clearly articulate technical recommendations for enhancing client cybersecurity and IT infrastructure
  • Train or mentor other technical roles
  • Identify and escalate underperforming team members
  • Prioritize, action, and delegate instructions and tasks provided by the Engagement Lead
Requirements
  • General knowledge of the Incident Response lifecycle and tools
  • Ability to communicate technical subject matter to a non-technical audience
  • Sufficient knowledge of Arete core offerings, processes, and internal tools
  • Ability to lead projects with multiple stakeholders and resolve conflicts

  • Previous experience scripting for automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
  • Familiarity with industry-standard incident response and forensics threat hunting software and toolsets
  • Working knowledge of networking and troubleshooting
  • General knowledge of data encryption technologies
  • Ability to read and understand basic network diagrams
  • Familiarity with small to large-size network and systems environments
  • Basic experience identifying persistence mechanisms and developing client-specific remediation steps
  • Experience with basic collections and troubleshooting
  • Experience setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting backup and restore operations
  • Data recovery experience and basic understanding of data structures, file system formats, RAID configurations, and storage configurations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's/technical degree and 6 years of experience in IT operations and administration
  • Technical certifications, such as Cisco Networking, Security+, Microsoft Server/Azure
  • Advanced knowledge of multiple technologies, including multi-factor authentication, storage solutions, hypervisors, operating systems, networking, system administration, and remote monitoring and management tools
  • Thorough knowledge in areas such as virtualization, Windows Server, Linux/Unix, LDAP/Active Directory, DNS, networking, firewalls, DMZ, scripting/PowerShell, cloud solutions, Microsoft 365, information security, SaaS integrations, MDM, SIEM platforms, MFA, and RMM

Physical Demands

Terms of Employment

Expected annual base salary range: $104,000 - $120,000 per year. Bonus eligible. Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location.
