Pediatric Radiology Fellow Position

Job Summary

Fellowship subspecialty training in pediatric radiology will enable graduates to independently practice diagnostic imaging for the care of pediatric patients from the fetus through 18 years of age. Fellows will be trained in all systems, including abdominal, central nervous system, musculoskeletal, and cardiovascular, with exposure to a wide range of pediatric diagnoses. Imaging modalities will include radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, and positron emission tomography.

Responsibilities
  • Supervised interpretation of fundamental and complex diagnostic imaging for children in all modalities
  • Provision of diagnostic imaging reports, including review of patient charts and other relevant information
  • Participation in routine communications and consultations with referring providers
  • Regular participation in pediatric multidisciplinary conferences
  • Guidance of imaging technologists during image acquisition
  • Preparation for fluoroscopic and percutaneous procedures, including obtaining patient/family consent
  • Supervising and teaching junior learners, such as radiology residents and medical students
Work Environment

The position will be primarily based at the University of Wisconsin American Family Children's Hospital, with a minority of work provided at UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital. Overnight and weekend shifts are incorporated into the fellowship to enhance experience with acute care cases and augmented independent functioning as the fellowship progresses.

Education and Qualifications
  • Terminal degree (MD, DO, or equivalent)
  • 4-year residency in radiology
  • MD - Physician - State Licensure (WI Medical License by start date)
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified by American Board of Radiology by start date
Appointment Type and Duration

Terminal, 12-month appointment. The position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.
