Role Responsibilities
We are in search of talented, imaginative, and disciplined engineers to join our elite team, which significantly influences the development of new silicon for Apple ecosystems. You will engage in a dynamic and collaborative environment with a focus on the following objectives:
- Gain a profound understanding of components/modules within wireless communication systems and the relevant calibration and impairment mitigation techniques.
- Devise methods and algorithms to mitigate hardware-induced impairments through calibration, cancellation, and other applicable strategies.
- Design and architect PHY firmware, including calibrations, real-time processing flows, and collaboration with RF hardware, microcode, and MAC layers.
- Create highly efficient designs that deliver exceptional performance while optimizing power and memory usage, all while adhering to stringent real-time latency requirements.
- Troubleshoot real-time systems with limited visibility, working hands-on with development boards and laboratory equipment.
- Collaborate with Radio, MAC, and Systems engineering teams to architect, define, and implement innovative algorithms, calibrations, and protocols.
- Support pre-silicon validation efforts, including simulation, emulation, and FPGA prototyping.
- Develop SoC testing and calibration capabilities for chip, module, and product manufacturing.
- Assist in post-silicon bring-up, validation, performance characterization, system integration, and debugging.
- Continuously measure and optimize results using various testing frameworks.
- Automate calibration and verification processes.
Essential Qualifications
- Extensive technical expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Hands-on experience and working knowledge of wireless systems and protocols such as LTE/NR/WiFi/Bluetooth.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities to address technical challenges during design, development, and maintenance phases.
- Strong embedded software fundamentals, including knowledge of design and development processes, real-time constraints, concurrency, multi-processor systems, caching, and virtual memory.
- In-depth understanding of data structures, object-oriented design, and system architecture in an embedded context.
- Robust software engineering skills, including design and development (using C, C++), scripting (Python), and debugging.
- Familiarity with low-level hardware interfaces, register and interrupt programming, bare-metal software development, clock, and power management.
- Experience with configuration management (GIT, Perforce) and release management, continuous integration, unit, and regression testing.
- Strong grasp of design strategies for maintainability, scalability, and code reuse.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly organized, motivated, and passionate about achieving results.
Education & Experience
A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience is required.
Additional Information
Compensation & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one component of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This allows for growth as you develop within your role. The base pay range for this position is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will be influenced by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if they voluntarily participate in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Additionally, you will receive benefits such as comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and reimbursement for certain educational expenses related to advancing your career at Apple. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation assistance.
