Premier Health School Nurse RN/LPN Position

We are seeking a skilled School Nurse RN/LPN to join our team at Premier Health. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality healthcare services to students in our district.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify ongoing and emerging school health needs of students.
  • Facilitate the effective planning, delivery, and ongoing improvement of school health services.
  • Prepare the assigned assessment/consultation/treatment area and requisition supplies.
  • Help families understand school health program objectives and state-mandated standards.
  • Develop and implement protocols to safeguard student assessment results.
  • Advance the district's professional image and maintain open/effective communications.
  • Refer district policy interpretation inquiries to administrators.
  • Help identify safety and health hazards and recommend policy and administrative procedure revisions.
  • Serve as the district's blood-borne pathogen compliance officer and staff trainer.
  • Dispense authorized over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs.
  • Provide assistance to sick and injured students, administer first aid, and investigate and document injuries.
  • Ensure the accuracy of records and review medical emergency authorization forms.
  • Ensure that all required state minimum student health screening activities are completed.
  • Consult with a student's doctor to make exclusion or school readmission recommendations.
  • Evaluate visual, hearing, or other student health concerns and recommend medical referrals.
  • Assess student health conditions and develop nursing care plans.
  • Coordinate in-service training for staff providing care for students with special medical needs.
  • Help students monitor and manage acute/chronic medical conditions as needed.
  • Consult with parents as needed and support grade-level curriculum implementation activities.
  • Help staff and families address student concerns and assist with the multi-factored examination (MFE) process.
  • Advocate for children and initiate referrals to community resources as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for drug/harassment/violence prevention and related school safety activities.
  • Communicate expectations, provide guidance, and show an active interest in student progress.
  • Help facilitate community participation in activities that enhance student learning.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment and facilitate student learning activities that encourage collaboration and positive peer relationships.
  • Collaborate with other staff, share knowledge and resources, and promote the proper care and use of school property.
  • Inspect program equipment, recommend program purchases, and prepare inventories as directed.
  • Request permission and follow board-approved procedures for the disposal of fixed assets.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, submit required paperwork on time, and maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Uphold the student conduct code, implement effective pupil management procedures, and provide appropriate student supervision.
  • Take precautions to ensure safety, watch for conduct/situations that may indicate a problem, and work with supervisors to manage or eliminate risk factors.
  • Report suspected child abuse and/or neglect to civil authorities as required by law.
  • Participate in required school activities, pursue growth opportunities, and strive to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others.
  • Help students understand and embrace ethical conduct and democratic values.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and provide prompt notification of delays or absences.
