Job SummaryThe Employment Specialist will provide direct client services, including employment counseling, client needs assessment, vocational evaluation, employment preparation and training, referral to community resources and support services, program eligibility, and/or job development/placement. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the social services field and experience in employment and education services.
Key Responsibilities- Interview and advise clients to ascertain employability and provide guidance on career development.
- Interpret and explain regulations, rules, policies, and procedures to clients, and determine client eligibility for services.
- Assess client's education, work experience, skills, abilities, qualifications, and job interest, and match clients with available employment, training, or other opportunities/services.
- Identify problems/barriers that hinder employability and assist clients in resolving and mitigating barriers to employment.
- Make referrals to various CRT departments and other community resources, and arrange for a wide range of specialized and/or support services.
- Develop and implement individual employment plans, and ensure client conformance with program rules and regulations, department policies, and employment plans.
- Contacts public and private employers to develop on-the-job training and/or direct job placement sites for clients.
- Maintains cooperative relationships with employers, academic and vocational training institutions, and support service and community resource agencies.
- Bachelor's Degree Required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the Social Services field and/or employment and education services.
- Considerable oral and written Communication Skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
