Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Copyright Registration Coordinator to join our team at Dexian. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for examining and registering audio and audio-visual products with the U.S. Copyright Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine and register audio and audio-visual products with the U.S. Copyright Office using the eCO system.
  • Review artist and license agreements to determine copyright ownership and registration responsibility.
  • Search the U.S. Copyright Office website and internal databases to identify pre-existing copyrighted works.
  • Research and report copyright notice discrepancies to the Associate Director and record label contacts.
  • Create copyright memos with notes for each release.
  • Handle registration application questions from the U.S. Copyright Office.
  • Follow up with the U.S. Copyright Office regarding copyright certificate status.
  • Provide copyright registration information and copies of certificates for internal requests.
  • Enter, catalogue, and inventory copyright registration certificates received back from the U.S. Copyright Office.
  • Assist with other projects as requested by the Associate Director.

Requirements:

  • Paralegal and/or legal support staff experience.
  • Interest in and basic understanding of U.S. copyright law and the copyright registration process.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting recording/music agreements and contracts.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • College degree preferred.
