Job Title: Optometrist, Correctional Facility

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optometrist to join our team at the California State Prison. As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for conducting eye examinations, diagnosing eye diseases, and providing treatment to inmates.

Job Summary:

The Optometrist will work under the general direction of the Receiver's Medical Executive and will be responsible for conducting eye examinations, diagnosing eye diseases, and providing treatment to inmates. The Optometrist will also be responsible for maintaining order and supervising the conduct of inmates, as well as protecting and maintaining the safety of persons and property.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct eye examinations and diagnose eye diseases
  • Provide treatment to inmates
  • Maintain order and supervise the conduct of inmates
  • Protect and maintain the safety of persons and property
Requirements:
  • Valid license to practice Optometry in the State of California
  • Two years of experience in the practice of Optometry
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a correctional facility
  • Knowledge of eye diseases and treatment options
Working Conditions:

The Optometrist will work in a correctional facility and will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. The Optometrist will also be required to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks effectively.
