LOCATION

This position is based in our Nashville, TN facility, with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM EST.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The primary role of the Senior Welding Technician is to deliver mechanical support within the energy generation facility and the distribution network. This individual will be tasked with executing welding operations on systems related to chilled water and steam production, while also providing mechanical maintenance support throughout the district energy system.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conduct predictive and preventive maintenance and repair tasks on facility equipment, including piping systems and joints, chillers, boilers, and related apparatus. (30%)
  • Perform welding, cutting, threading, and assembly of piping and other components within the steam and chilled water systems. (30%)
  • Fabricate necessary components such as ladders and piping assemblies. (20%)
  • Assist contractors and fellow maintenance personnel with mechanical installations and repairs as required. (10%)
  • Collaborate directly with the operations manager to identify and strategize maintenance activities. (10%)

POSITION SCOPE

This role reports to the District Energy System Operations Manager and encompasses mechanical and welding responsibilities, including the maintenance, repair, and replacement of existing systems and devices.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a welding environment.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques for maintenance, fabrication, and repair using both gas and electric welding equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering schematics and execute repairs or replacements accordingly.
  • Capability to weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Effective communication skills to relay equipment status and required repairs to management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience as a pipefitter.
  • Experience in fabricating equipment from various metal types (steel, aluminum) according to engineering specifications.
  • Mechanical maintenance experience in Chiller and Boiler Plants.
  • Possession of welding certifications.
