Position Overview

The Cleveland Clinic is actively seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to become a vital member of our Hematology & Oncology team, dedicated to providing exceptional care to adult patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive patient care for individuals facing hematological and oncological challenges.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests to inform treatment plans.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and nursing staff to coordinate chemotherapy administration and manage side effects.
  • Perform necessary medical procedures as trained and assist with hospital rounds.
  • Develop and implement discharge plans, including follow-up care, home health services, and prescription management.
  • Provide survivorship care for patients who have completed chemotherapy.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, primarily during daytime hours, with potential variations based on departmental needs.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Applicants should possess clinical experience in Oncology. Newly licensed candidates will be considered only if they have completed direct clinical rotations in Hematology/Oncology or have relevant experience as a Registered Nurse.

Educational Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) required upon hire or within three years for external hires and internal transitions to an APRN role.
  • Graduation from an accredited APRN program is mandatory.
  • For those in neonatal care, a Master's degree is required upon hire.

Language Proficiency:

Strong oral and written communication skills in English are essential.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Current Nurse Practitioner license in the applicable state(s).
  • Registered Nurse licensure in the applicable state(s).
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner from a recognized accrediting organization.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification may be required based on the work setting.
  • Must have established arrangements with at least one physician as per state regulations.
  • Credentialing and privileging by the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of the respective hospitals are necessary.

Experience:

Relevant clinical experience is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination for performing physical examinations.
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges are required.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Adherence to standard precautions and use of personal protective equipment as necessary.
