Job Title: Electrical Systems Specialist

Perquimans County School District is seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team. As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, public address systems, CATV systems, scoreboards, irrigation controls, clocks, generator systems, water and sewer control systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Test and repair malfunctioning electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring systems and controls in school system buildings and facilities.
  • Perform skilled electrical work, including inspecting the work of semi-skilled workers.
  • Assist in the installation and repair of telephone systems and security systems.
  • Align, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to specifications.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from high school supplemented by vocational training in electrical field and 1 to 2 years of experience in electrical maintenance.
  • Possession of a valid electrician's license based on State requirements as directed by the North Carolina Board of Electrical Examiners.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state of North Carolina.
Working Conditions:

The Electrical Systems Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, performing a variety of tasks, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working in tight spaces. The ability to lift up to 150 pounds and to work in a physically demanding environment is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Considerable knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Considerable knowledge of approved electrical methods, practices, code requirements, and safety standards.
  • General knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the installation and repair of electrical wiring systems and controls in school system buildings and facilities.
