Director of Environmental and Occupational Safety

ATSU is seeking a highly skilled Director of Environmental and Occupational Safety to oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive safety programs on the Kirksville, Missouri campus.

Job Summary:

The Director of Environmental and Occupational Safety will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and safety standards related to environmental health and safety. This includes developing and implementing policies, procedures, and training programs to promote a safe work environment and prevent accidents and injuries.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs to address environmental health and occupational safety risks
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards
• Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
• Provide training and education to employees on safety policies, procedures, and best practices
• Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement emergency response plans and protocols
• Manage and maintain records related to safety incidents, training, and compliance
• Serve as the primary contact for safety-related matters and respond to reports of hazardous conditions or incidents

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience
• Two years of experience in environmental health and safety, including demonstrated management experience
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team

Salary:

$85,000 - $110,000 per year, dependent upon education and experience
