Position Summary:

We are in search of a committed and empathetic On-Call Overnight Hospice Nurse. In this role, you will deliver expert nursing care and emotional support to patients facing terminal illnesses and their families during night shifts, weekends, and occasional holidays. This position demands flexibility, compassion, and the ability to provide comfort and reassurance during difficult times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver skilled nursing care to hospice patients in their residences or inpatient settings during overnight hours.
  • Evaluate patients' physical and emotional requirements and formulate personalized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as directed by the attending physician.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and vital signs, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Offer emotional support and guidance to patients and families, addressing their concerns and providing comfort during challenging times.
  • Educate patients and families regarding the hospice philosophy, pain management, symptom control, and end-of-life care options.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient care activities and communication with the interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN or LPN license in Georgia.
  • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in hospice, palliative care, or a related field.
  • Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing (CHPN) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgments in emergency situations.
  • Willingness to work overnight shifts, weekends, and occasional holidays as required.
