We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Therapist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Speech Therapist - Acute Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality speech and language services to patients in our acute care setting.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and Evaluate Patients: Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of patients with speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and Implement Treatment Plans: Create and implement individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results and patient goals.
- Monitor and Evaluate Progress: Regularly monitor and evaluate patient progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain Accurate Records: Document patient progress, treatment plans, and other relevant information in a timely and accurate manner.
- Stay Current with Industry Developments: Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices and industry developments.
- Education: Master's Degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Current Speech-Language Pathology license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, intermediate computer skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical Demands: Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, and squat throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist and 10 lbs. from waist to overhead.
- Environmental Factors: Exposure to electrical and chemical hazards, as well as blood and body fluids. Must be able to wear protective clothing as needed.
