Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health Manager to join our team at the City of Somerville. This role is responsible for the overall management of safety, health, and training programs within the Water and Sewer Department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, including accident investigation and prevention, motor vehicle safety, confined space, hearing conservation, ergonomics, and OSHA mandated programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, DOT, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Design and deliver training programs to department staff on various safety topics, including hazardous materials handling, first aid, and emergency response.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and developing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices related to occupational health and safety.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in safety or health, with 1-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • OSHA 30-hour training for construction and general industry.
  • Valid Class D driver's license.
