Job DescriptionPosition Title:
Operations Manager

Position Overview:

The ideal Operations Manager will optimize systems, enhance capabilities, and develop personnel across various operational functions to implement the organization's strategic objectives and achieve targeted outcomes.

The qualities we seek in a leader for this position align with our core principles of Precision in executing safety and operational tasks, Dedication to our mission in support of the warfighter, and Care for the individuals and teams under our guidance.

This role involves motivating teams, fostering improvements, and maintaining discipline to achieve results.

They will serve as a role model for self-improvement to those around them and possess a strong commitment to safety, quality, and ongoing enhancement.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Health, Environmental, Safety, and Security
a. Develop and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure workplace and adherence to industry standards and regulations
b. Collaborate with governmental and regulatory bodies for audits, certifications, etc.
c. Foster a culture of safety awareness and risk management
d. Safeguard the security of personnel, facilities, equipment, and other assets

2. Facilities and Maintenance
a. Ensure facilities and equipment are maintained in optimal condition through preventive maintenance and enhancement initiatives
b. Identify, propose, justify, and oversee capital investment projects

3. Production
a. Lead teams to execute production tasks ensuring all products meet customer and internal quality standards while achieving delivery targets
b. Develop and manage budgets across multiple departments
c. Ensure comprehensive training is conducted, including cross-training
d. Cultivate a culture of ownership with a focus on team performance, cross-functional collaboration, and integrated product teams accountable to organizational needs
e. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring proper lean manufacturing principles are applied throughout the area of responsibility

4. Reporting and Accountability
a. Responsible for developing, maintaining, and reporting metrics related to the performance of the key areas mentioned above
b. Reports to the site General Manager
c. Holds leadership responsibility over all Production Technicians, Machinists, Maintenance staff, and Scheduling personnel
d. Tasked with developing and enhancing personnel within the Operations organization through effective management, training, communication, and feedback

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in operations/manufacturing, preferably in composite structures manufacturing within the Aerospace and Defense sector
  • 5+ years of leadership and management experience
  • Background and training in Lean Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Proficient in analyzing data, reviewing operational metrics, and implementing meaningful changes to enhance operational performance
  • Capable of formulating strategic plans for multiple operations based on booked and projected work
  • Able to balance meticulous attention to detail with prompt execution
  • Competent in tracking and managing numerous programs and projects concurrently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent organizational abilities
