Job Summary:

The Elementary School Nurse is a vital member of the Emporia Unified School District team, responsible for providing preventive health services to facilitate the student's optimal physical, mental, emotional, and social growth and development. This role requires a strong commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and creating a supportive environment for students to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide health assessments and screenings to identify potential health issues
• Develop and implement school health management protocols to promote healthy behaviors
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to create a supportive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to ensure student health and well-being
• Maintain accurate records and reports to track student health and progress

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
• Current Kansas State Licensure with endorsement appropriate to the assignment
• Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in community health or school nursing
• Current certification in hearing and vision screening from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment
• Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office

Working Conditions:

• Prolonged sitting or standing
• Occasional physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials
• Must work indoors and outdoors year-round
• Must work in noisy and crowded environments
