Job Title: Crossing Guard

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious individual to assist our students in crossing streets safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate standard crosswalk and related safety equipment.
• Provide a safe environment for students to cross busy streets.
• Provide traffic and pedestrian control.
• Report hazardous conditions, situations, and violations to the building Principal or police, as directed.

Requirements:

• Basic traffic laws and procedures.
• Basic traffic control and pedestrian safety methods, techniques, and objectives.
• School rules and behavior requirements.
• Disciplinary and behavior modification methods and techniques.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and observe District policies and procedures.
• Ability to provide a safe environment for students crossing and waiting to cross streets.
• Ability to discern and react appropriately to emergency or safety situations.
• Ability to prepare and maintain required records, files, reports, logs, statistics, and documentation.
• Ability to operate standard crosswalk and related safety equipment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, and staff members, and other District personnel.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to maintain student and District confidentiality.
• Ability to demonstrate integrity, ingenuity, and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.

Essential Physical Abilities:

• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal conversation and to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person.
• Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work and assessments, prepare and review documents, and organize documents and materials.
• Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and to operate a computer and office equipment.
• Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and balance, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to work in an office environment, lifting or moving objects that weigh up to 20 lbs.

Evaluation and Terms of Employment:

• Yearly evaluation by supervisor.
• Terms of employment to be determined by calendar year.
