About the Pediatric Surgery OR

The Pediatric Surgery Operating Room at Duke University Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to providing the highest level of care for young patients. Our team of pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses work together to ensure that each child receives personalized, developmentally appropriate care throughout their surgical experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to infants, children, and adolescents undergoing surgical procedures
  • Collaborate with the pediatric surgery team to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Participate in preoperative and postoperative care, including preparation and recovery
  • Monitor and manage patient vital signs and medical conditions
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care
Requirements
  • Current registration with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse
  • BLS (or higher) certification
  • Previous work experience (1+ years) as a clinical nurse, preferably in pediatric surgery
  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program
