Job Summary

As a key member of the Geisinger Health System team, the Environmental Services Operations Manager II plays a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and aesthetics within our facilities. This leadership position requires a strong focus on continuous improvement, staff leadership, and making sound business decisions that support our mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and recommend environmental hygiene maintenance strategies for new floor coverings, wall coverings, furnishings, and interior finishes.
  • Manage departmental budgets, including capital, projects, supplies, and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations for the handling, packaging, storage, and disposal of regulated medical waste.
  • Manage resources, including staffing levels, products, and equipment, to optimize environmental services operations.
  • Complete all Human Resources responsibilities, including interviewing, hiring, managing, staff development, corrective actions, and staff engagement.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, including training, auditing, inspecting, rounding, and making recommendations as needed.
  • Collaborate with the EVS director to establish dashboard metrics for tracking operations and improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of safety, hand hygiene, patient experience, employee engagement, and retention.
  • Coordinate scheduling and oversee subcontractors and vendors.
  • Supervise and/or perform on-call emergency services as needed.
  • Compose general and technical reports.
  • Establish expertise in environmental services, regulatory compliance, and training.
  • Effectively utilize computer programs and mobile devices.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, guests, team members, and other healthcare workers.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of managerial/supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
