Diesel Technician

Job Summary:
A skilled Diesel Technician is needed to diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair all series of motor truck and trailer equipment with a primary focus on refrigeration unit maintenance equipment designed for commercial trucks and trailers.
This position will be located at a Penske facility, where the associate will be required to work in a non-climate controlled environment and maintain a safe working area.
Main Responsibilities:
Perform all levels of maintenance services, with a focus on refrigeration unit maintenance, including testing lines, components, and connections using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic test equipment.
Read complex schematics associated with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and identify warrantable repairs, documenting on repair orders as needed.
Maintain work area appearance and safety, and road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or ensure they are working properly.
Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner, using hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
Provide additional support regarding preventative maintenance and tractor trailer maintenance as required by location management.
Qualifications:
6 years of practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance is required, along with a high school diploma or equivalent. Vocational/Technical or certification is preferred, as well as specialized training and experience in the overhaul of refrigeration components.
ASE Certification and 608/609 certifications are preferred, and proficiency in the use of all necessary tools of trade is required. A current CDL license with air brake certification is also preferred, as well as basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements:
The associate will be required to move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods of time throughout their scheduled working period. They must be able to use their hands on a routine and daily basis to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, and/or otherwise operate required tools or controls.
The associate must be able to work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated working platforms, and must be able to see and hear in order to safely navigate the work environment. They must also be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
