Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified part-time instructor to teach Speech Communication courses at Palomar College. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the field and be able to effectively communicate with students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Speech Communication courses, including curriculum-approved courses within the discipline of Speech Communication (Communication Studies)
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse students
  • Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of departmental goals and objectives
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Speech, Speech Broadcasting, Telecommunications, Rhetoric, Communication, Communication Studies, Speech Communication, or Organizational Communication
  • OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above fields and a Master's degree in Drama/Theater Arts, Mass Communication, or English
  • OR a combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of the qualifications listed above
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching Speech Communication courses
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse students and colleagues
Working Conditions

Part-time faculty members receive supervision from the Division Dean and direction from the Department Chair. The successful candidate will be required to complete a live scan/fingerprinting, official transcript(s), TB risk assessment, and employment verification(s) as part of the hiring process.
