Job Title: Survey Party Chief

Thompson Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Survey Party Chief to lead our survey crew in Lake Charles, LA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the survey crew, ensuring accurate data collection, and reporting to our Survey Team Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the survey crew in daily operations, ensuring efficient and accurate data collection.
  • Set up and complete survey crews on job sites under the supervision of the Professional Land Surveyor and/or job supervisor.
  • Ensure proper reporting of daily work logs to the Org Manager.
  • Reduce survey data to the Org Manager, interpreting blueprints, plans, and deeds as needed.
  • Operate all survey equipment, interpreting data to report information to the Org Manager.
  • Manage the time and schedules of the survey crew, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Requirements:
  • Five (5) years of verifiable experience in running a crew in surveying commercial and/or heavy industrial construction stakeout.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to read and comprehend measurements.
  • Intermediate math skills, including trigonometry and coordinate geometry.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight based on work load.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in the outside elements up to 100% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Required to remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day and walk long distances.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and climb on a ladder.
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle to and from job sites.
