Overview:
The Cash Applications Specialist is a key member of the RELIANCE WORLDWIDE team, responsible for researching and resolving open customer payments and invoice short payments, as well as performing payment history analysis. This role will also conduct research for unidentified accounts and/or contact customer accounts, maintain all related support documentation, and participate in special department projects/initiatives as they arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Cash Receipts and Posting: Process and post cash receipts to customer accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
- Unapplied Payment Resolution: Research and resolve unapplied payment issues to ensure accurate customer account balances.
- Cash Application Support: Respond to customer inquiries and provide support for cash application-related issues.
- Invoice Short Payment Research: Research and resolve invoice short payments, identifying root causes and collaborating with internal departments to expedite dispute resolution.
- Special Projects and Reporting: Assist with special projects, such as annual external audit preparation, and provide daily, weekly, and month-end reporting.
Requirements:
- Education: 4-year degree or equivalent work experience in Cash Application, Accounts Receivable, Collections, or other accounting areas.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience with full-cycle accounts receivable cash applications and accounting/billing systems.
- Skills: SAP Cash Application knowledge, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
- Personal Qualities: Strong accounting and recordkeeping skills, excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail and thoroughness, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused approach.
Working Conditions:
- This position will be based in an office environment.
- Saturdays and some weekends may be required for month/quarter/year-end close.
