Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

Discover Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing computerized tomography exams, scheduling exams, and conferring with radiologists to determine exam requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Perform computerized tomography exams of the head, neck, spine, chest, and body, with and without contrast materials.
- Schedule exams to optimize scanner times and maintain flexibility for emergency cases.
- Confer with radiologists to determine requirements of non-standard exams.
- Perform all procedures related to general and complex CT exams.
- Prepare and administer contrast materials with a thorough understanding of their usage.
- Practice radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self.
- Maintain CT schedule and workflow of new orders.
- Explain exams to patients and obtain informed consent.
- Responsible for stocking and inventory of all CT supplies.
- Available for irregular hour emergency scans on standby.
- Continually review new developments in computerized tomography.
Requirements:
- United States Citizenship.
- English Language Proficiency.
- Certification: Must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R). Advanced ARRT certification is required for assignments that include computed tomography (CT).
- Education: Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or other recognized accrediting agencies.
- Credentialing Standards: Must meet credentialing standards as described in Public Law 97-35.
- Loss of Credential: Must maintain required certification to remain in the occupation.
Grade Determinations:
Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, GS-9:
- At least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-8, demonstrating clinical competencies.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) including ability to balance patient and staff needs, assess contraindications, and knowledge of physical assessment and basic life support practices.
Physical Requirements:
Heavy lifting, moderate carrying, reaching above shoulder, walking, standing, and repeated bending.

Full-time; Monday-Friday, Administrative Days
