Job Title: Principal Engineer - Stress Analysis and Design

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our team at SOCOTEC. As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for performing, directing, specifying, and leading stress analyses to solve complex issues related to design, life assessment, and root cause failure analyses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct advanced testing, including the assessment of the physical structure and behavior of metals and materials.
  • Perform heat transfer, fluid dynamics, fracture mechanics, and structural stress analyses of pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment, bridges, and other structures using classical and finite element analysis methods.
  • Work with industry codes and standards for the design and analysis of structures and systems.
  • Manage projects, organize new business opportunities, and communicate effectively with clients, engineering colleagues, and technical and administrative staff.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, metallurgical, or structural engineering; a master's degree or PhD is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience, minimum.
  • A Professional Engineer license is preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to pass background and drug screenings to obtain security clearances at a commercial nuclear plant.
  • Ability to travel to customer or project sites, which may include weekends.
