The College of the Canyons is seeking a highly qualified Division Dean for the Health Professions and Public Safety Division. As a key member of the college's leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to the division, ensuring the delivery of high-quality programs and services that meet the needs of students, industry, and the community.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and supervision to the faculty and staff of the division, including department chairs and program supervisors.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the division, aligned with the college's strategic goals and objectives.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
- Manage and coordinate the development, evaluation, and execution of programs, projects, and activities related to Health Professions and Public Safety.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to promote innovation, excellence, and student success.
- Develop and manage budgets, allocate resources, and secure external funding opportunities for the division.
- Represent the college in the community, promoting the division's programs and services, and fostering partnerships with industry and community organizations.
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline reasonably related to the assignment.
- Two years of academic administrative experience in an institution of higher education, or two years of successful leadership experience in a related field, with a minimum of one year of experience providing leadership for a major district-level initiative/program.
- Completion of a leadership-training program of at least one semester in duration.
- Three years of recent academic or professional experience in one of the professional areas in the discipline (Nursing, Certified Nursing Assistant, MLT, CLS, Phlebotomy, PTA, OTA, Pharmacy Technician, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Administration of Justice, Fire Technology, Emergency Medical Technician, Health Sciences).
- Demonstrated successful experience linking educational programs and services to the economic and workforce development needs of business and industry.
- Demonstrated successful experience using data, surveys, and student/community input to develop new and revise existing curriculum.
- Prior teaching experience in one or more of the areas to which the Dean position is assigned.
- Demonstrated successful experience acquiring program or institutional resources and facilitating partnerships between local and regional business and industry groups and the campus community.
The position requires sitting and viewing a computer monitor for extended periods, as well as frequent periods of standing and walking. The ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 20 pounds is also required.
