Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic medical sonography procedures to produce high-quality images for diagnosis by physicians. You will work independently and as part of a team to provide excellent patient care and maintain a safe and clean environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic medical sonography procedures to produce high-quality images for diagnosis by physicians.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to provide excellent patient care and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Obtain consents per Department P/P manual.
  • Follows appropriate UHC on-call policy.
  • Complies with safety policy and procedure.
  • Provides a safe environment. Reports unsafe equipment, devices, etc. to supervisor.
  • Performs all Sonography procedures per Policy and procedure manual.
  • Ability to disinfect all probes and use resert appropriately for Endovaginal and Endorectal probes according to P/ P manual.
  • Convey proper annotation and information to radiologists to insure accurate results.
  • Performs time-outs for all invasive procedures per Policy and procedure manual.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in regards to PACS and Ultrasound viewing station.
  • Keeps all patient information confidential and in accordance with HIPAA.
Requirements
  • Must be able to exert 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Visual acuity must be within normal ranges.
  • Must be able to position, lift, move patients of all weights with varying amounts of assistance in a fair manner on a regular and recurring basis.
Working Environment
  • Exposure to body fluids, human tissues, contagious diseases, sharps and explosive gases.
  • Exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
  • Exposure to high stress and constant interruptions.
  • Exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants.
