Key Responsibilities
  • Directing workflow on the floor
  • Assisting with the interview process for potential new hires
  • Technician Scheduling
  • Assisting in staffing and coverage where needed
  • Assisting in the educational development of technicians and their skills
  • Assisting in basic protocol and standard procedure training
  • Providing opportunities for staff to gain more firsthand experience
  • Mentoring technicians within the department
  • Working with department doctors to develop protocols to improve the service
  • Ensuring that VCA policies, guidelines, and recommendations are implemented by all members of the technical staff.
Requirements
  • Current veterinary technician license in the state of Hawaii or eligible to transfer/obtain a license in Hawaii
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience preferred
  • Skills in veterinary emergency and critical care nursing; organization and planning; verbal, written, and presentation communication skills; veterinary leadership, management, and supervision; and problem solving
